Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions committees ask most.

These are the questions committee members ask most often. If something you need is not answered here, the individual guides cover each part of InflowBooks in more detail.

The app will not load, or something is failing. Is it us or InflowBooks?

Check status.inflowbooks.in. It shows the live status of the website, sign-in, records, email and WhatsApp, with 90 days of history, and it is hosted separately so it stays up even when InflowBooks is down. If we already know about a problem you will see it there with updates as we work through it, and you can ask to be emailed when it is fixed. If everything shows as working, try a different network or device, then write to us.

Does InflowBooks take or hold any of our money?

No. InflowBooks is a record-keeping tool, not a payment service. Donations go directly to the masjid by UPI, bank transfer or in person.

Is our data private to our masjid?

Yes. Each masjid sees only its own records. No other masjid can view your members, payments or figures.

What does Outstanding mean?

It is the total a member owes. A positive figure means they are behind, and a negative figure means they have paid in advance.

A member's balance looks wrong. What should I check?

Check their subscription amount and their opening balance, then record any payments that are missing. Outstanding updates automatically once the figures are correct.

Can I record a payment for a past month?

Yes. You can back-date a payment and mark earlier months as paid, so the record reflects what actually happened.

How do I send a member their receipt?

Issue the receipt, then share it as a PDF by WhatsApp or email, or print or download it. See the Receipts guide for the full steps.

How do donors pay through our public page?

They pay the masjid directly using the UPI or bank details shown on the page. The page only shows how to give, and never collects money itself.

We are a madrasa, not a masjid. Can we still use InflowBooks?

Yes. An administrator can set what you are called in Settings, in your profile: the dashboard then says College, Madrasa, Trust or whatever word you choose, and you can call the people you collect from Donors or Subscribers instead of Members. It changes the wording on screen and on your documents, never your records.

How do we change our logo, icon or brand colours?

An administrator can set these in Settings, under Branding: upload a logo and a browser icon, and choose your primary and secondary colours. They then appear on your public page, receipts, reminders and the browser tab.

How do I give our treasurer access?

An administrator adds them under Settings, Committee members, with the Treasurer role. See the Settings guide for more detail.

Can two people share one login?

No. Each committee member should have their own personal login, so that access can be managed and reviewed properly.

Can we open InflowBooks from our phone home screen?

Yes. Open Settings, scroll to This device, and choose Install app. On an iPhone or an iPad, open the page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It installs per device, so each committee member does it on their own phone or computer.

The app turns when I tilt my phone. Can I stop it?

Yes. Open Your account, then Screen rotation, and choose to hold it upright or on its side. The choice is saved on that device and applies when you open the app from the home screen. On Android, holding an orientation is only allowed in full screen, so the clock and battery bar hide while it is on.

Can I lock the app on my phone with a PIN or fingerprint?

Yes. Open Your account, then App lock, and set a PIN and/or turn on fingerprint or face unlock. The app then asks for it when you reopen it, and again after it has been in the background for a while. It is a privacy lock saved only on that device, and it does not replace your password.

I deleted something by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Deletions are reversible because records are hidden rather than erased. An administrator can help restore it.

Can I bring our existing spreadsheet in?

Yes. The Import and export section brings in members, payments, expenses and collections from a CSV file. See the Importing guide for how to prepare it.

Do we have to use every feature?

No. Optional sections such as Expenses, Collections, Statistics, Houses, Registrations, Messages and Waqf can be hidden under Settings, Sidebar menu, if your masjid does not need them. The same page lists which features the platform administrator has made available to you.

Why has the dashboard become read-only?

This happens when the masjid's InflowBooks plan has expired. There is a short grace period after the renewal date during which you only see a reminder. After that the dashboard becomes read-only: you can still view and export everything, but recording new entries is paused until it is renewed from the Billing page. Your data is never lost.
